    Dermotype 1: Oily skin

    alternate text

    Oily skin is characterized by an excessive production of sebum. This provokes the build up of dead skin cells that can clog pores. Imperfections form, pores dilate.

    Recognize the symptoms:

    • Localized shine (T-zone);
    • Dilated pores;
    • Irregular surface;
    • Blemishes;
    • Oily film.

    Skin tips

    • Use a cleanser designed to remove excess sebum and alternate with a light exfoliant every 2-3 days;
    • Never rub the face forcefully when cleasing – this will only stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce even more unwanted sebum;
    • Just because your skin is oily does not mean it cannot become dehydrated, so be sure to use a hydrating care as well as a cleanser – use a light-textured hydrating care that tightens pores and smoothes the skin surface.

    Dermotype 2: Dehydrated Skin

    Dermotype 2: peau déshydratée peau liquide

    Dehydrated skin is characterized by a reduced ability to preserve its moisture. Dehydrated skin needs its natural moisture-preservaton systems to be reinforced. It needs help capturing and fixing its own water in the heart of each cell.

    Recognize the symptoms:

    • Matified skin;
    • Smooth and regular surface;
    • Without blemishes;
    • Light pulling;
    • Occasional discomfort.

    Skin tips:

    • Use a gentle cleanser that does not affect your hydrolipidic barrier;
    • Moisturize daily with an intensive hydrating care;
    • Maintain body hydration by drinking lots of water;
    • Avoid harsh cold winds in winter.

    Dermotype 3: dried skin

    dermotype 3: peau sèche peau craquelée

    Dry skin is characterized by a low lipid content and weak hydrolipidic film. This leaves the stratum corneum exposed. The skin’s protective barrier is compromised.

    Recognize the symptoms:

    • Rough texture;
    • Desquamation;
    • Dehydration lines;
    • Intense pulling;
    • Constant discomfort.

    Skin tips:

    • Use a gentle cleanser that does not strip your hydrolipidic barrier, preferably a wipe-off cleanser that does not require rinsing;
    • Protect your skin daily with a lipid-replenishing care;
    • Avoid hot baths and hot-dry conditions as well as cold-dry condition;
    • Be sure to protect your skin against harsh winds.

    Dermotype 4: Dull skin

    dermotype 4: peau terne peau stratifiée schéma

    La peau terne est caractérisée par une micro-circulation ralentie, causée par les effets du stress, de la fatigue et de la pollution.

    Recognize the symptoms:

    • Dull skin;
    • Lack of radiance;
    • Uneven complexion;
    • No major blemishes;
    • Tired look.

    Skin tips:

    • Use a gentle cleanser that removes impurities and detoxifies the skin;
    • Moisturize daily with a treatment that stimulates the skin’s micro-circulation;
    • Eat well, sleep well and exercice regularly to boost you body’s natural ability to get rid of toxins and increase the flow of oxygen to the skin;
    • Avoid cigarettes and cigarette smoke which reduce the skin’s micro-circulation and deplete the skin’s oxygen supply.
