Adjustable work desks becoming popular
While working on your feet all day without moving around can be hard on the legs, people who are stuck to their chairs all day for work also know that sitting for extended periods is no better, in part because of the risk of back problems.
When seated for extended periods, the muscles of the trunk, neck and shoulders are in a fixed position. Maintaining this position is thought to compress blood vessels, which impairs blood circulation. Work stations should be designed in such a way as to avoid the compression of muscle tissue and promote blood flow, and also to allow limbs to rest in a natural position.
The solution for office workers would therefore be to be able to adjust their work desk as needed. It is very handy to have a table that can lift up with the touch of a button for teleconferencing, and that can then be brought back down when you need to review a long document. Standing for a certain amount of time can be very pleasant and even promote lively discussions. Many people also appreciate high stools that allow you to rest in an intermediate position between sitting and standing.
Many companies in the United States and Europe now use work tables with adjustable heights. Will we soon be seeing them here as well? If you’re thinking of remodelling your work space, look into adjustable work desks. They may very well make the time you spend at work more pleasant!
