Hi is it safe to stop amlodipine abruptly and start indapamide.I have been on Amlodipine for 10 years
Geneviève Duperron Pharmacist owner affiliated with Familiprix

There is theoreticcaly no risk of abrupt high pressure by stopping amlodipine, but amlodipine is usually more potent than indapamide...  Maybe start for 1 week on amlodipine 5 mg and monitor blood pressure twice a day then 2.5 mg for another week then stop if blood pressure is good or contact you physician or pharmacist if not

The pharmacist is solely responsible for the answer.
