I have been taking 1mg of xanax 3 times a day for anxiety attacks over the last 3 weeks. My counselor would now like to add bupropion 300 mg tablets once a day for depression. will these 2 rather different medications adversely effect each other, or should i adapt to the bupropion over some time? thank you, Mark
Sara Tremblay Pharmacist

I can reassure you that xanax and bupropion will not adversely effect each other. Xanax is not a long term solution, neither for anxiety or depression. To prevent symptoms sustainably, bupropion is a better option and can be try. Xanax would be reserved only when symptoms occurs and such situations should happened less frequently because of bupropion effectiveness.
