My eyes are so dry, I can’t wear contact lenses. Is there anything to help me moisturize my eyes?
Karina Savoie Pharmacist
You can use artificial tears, which are formulations made with water-retentive polymers, such as carboxymethylcelluose (CMC) or hyaluronic acid (HA), 4 to 6 times per day. These products can significantly relieve your symptoms. Make sure you use products with gentle preservatives, such as Polyquad. Don’t use them more than 6 times a day to avoid further irritation. You can also use preservative-free eye drops that are gentle on the eyes and recommended for people with contact lenses. For fast and immediate relief, use an ophthalmic ointment at night, which will restore your eyes’ lipid layer.
And don’t forget to wash your contact lenses every day!
