Technological innovation for the benefit of diabetic patients
Written in collaboration with Dexcom
Dexcom's Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems help make life easier for many people with diabetes. Thanks to its technology, which allows real-time transmission of glucose readings, Dexcom system users can now have continuous access to their glucose levels and the direction in which they are changing. This allows users to better manage their diabetes on a daily basis.
The benefits of inter-device connectivity
CGM systems such as the Dexcom G6 or Dexcom G7 measure glucose levels using a sensor inserted under the skin. Dexcom CGM systems have seen many improvements in recent years and can connect to smart devices*, including smartphones* and smartwatches*, insulin delivery systems and digital health partners (mobile applications).
One of the main advantages of using the Dexcom G7 is its connectivity to smart devices*. Dexcom G7 can connect to three devices simultaneously, including a smartphone*, a smartwatch* and a medical device (the Dexcom G7 receiver or an insulin pump). One interesting option is that Apple Watch users have access to an additional feature: they can check their glucose levels without needing their phone.†. Using these connected devices opens up multiple possibilities while providing greater discretion for users.
The connected insulin pump: a revolution
As technological development is constantly evolving, it is now possible to connect the Tandem insulin pump (model t:slim X2 with Control-IQ§ technology) to the Dexcom G7‡. The two systems communicate via Bluetooth® technology to create an easy-to-use system that automates insulin delivery and helps predict and prevent glucose rises and falls.
