The essentials for your makeup bag
It is so easy to buy beauty products and accessories! Many people actually collect them like works of art. Perhaps you feel as though your makeup back is overflowing, and you are not sure what is really necessary and what is a nice-to-have. Here are the basic products and tools that will help you with your beauty routine.
Start with the great skincare
Before applying any makeup, we suggest that you complete your skincare routine. Well-cleansed and moisturized skin will make it easier for you to apply makeup. It will also hold longer. The health of your skin should come first, so make sure you have a routine that is adapted to your skin and its needs.
Refine your complexion (foundation, bb cream, etc.)
We suggest a product to even out your complexion. Your foundation or BB cream should offer the right blend of sheer with a lighter application and more coverage when needed. Beauty balms or tinted moisturizers are great options because they will give you a natural and weightless effect on your skin.
Say goodbye to imperfections! (concealer, corrector, etc.)
A concealer/corrector is ideal for camouflaging dark circles, redness and blemishes. Choose a shade that matches your skin tone. Again, opt for a product with blendable coverage for those days when you notice your skin is somewhat lacklustre.
Choose a mattifying powder
So that your makeup holds throughout the day and evening, apply a thin layer of mattifying powder all over your face The T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) is always a little shinier than the rest of your face: focus on that area first. Your powder will help to prevent shine.
Add a splash of colour (bronzer, blush, etc.)
Once your face is evened out, you may find that it lacks a little pizazz. That's why the addition of a bronzing powder and/or blush will uplift your complexion. The bronzing powder should be applied where the sun would naturally caress your face, including the contours of your jawline, the top of your forehead, the tip of your nose, and the top of your cheeks. As for blush, simply apply a small amount to the top of your cheeks for a pop of colour. If you find that the application of both products gives an overly made-up effect, you can simply use only one of them.
Give a little love to our eyebrows
Many people tend to forget or simply skip their eyebrows. However, tending to them is one of the most important aspects of your beauty routine. The addition of a tinted gel for thin brows, a powder application to highlight your brows, or simply a few strokes of a pencil to correct and thicken will make all the difference.
Pucker up for moisturized and colored lips
The application of a tinted lip balm is perfect for when you are on the go during the day. A lip balm will moisturize your lips and add a little touch of colour to enhance your natural shade. You can also use this same product on your cheeks! The creamy texture will bring a lighter, more moisturized look to your face.
Open your eyes with mascara
To define and broaden your eyes, don't hesitate to apply your favourite mascara. You can opt for a brown colour for a more natural effect or black for a bolder finish.
Find your natural eyeshadow palette
Eyeshadows can be used to accentuate your beauty routine. Granted, you may not always have time to go for a more detailed look, but having a natural palette will come in handy. Be a minimalist: find the right neutral colours for your skin tone and try different textures (matte, metallic or slightly pearly). This type of palette will come in handy and give you more versatility in creating stylish looks.
Don’t forget tools and accessories
Some tools and accessories can help you when applying your makeup products. Your fingers or simply a few brushes are more than enough!
- A flat eye brush for eyeshadows
- A blending brush for the eyes
- A precision brush for eyes and eyebrows
- A multi-purpose brush for powder, bronzer and blush
- A brush or sponge for applying foundation
