Amphojel 600mg tablet

This medication is an antacid. Typically, it is used to prevent kidney stones or for an excess of phosphate in the blood. It may also be used to help relieve symptoms of heartburn and indigestion.

Instructions

This medication is typically used 4 times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Generally, it is used only as needed.

The tablets must be chewed and swallowed with water. If you find the tablets too hard, crush them and mix them with a little water first. This medication may be taken with or without food.

It is recommended to take this medication with water.

Side effects

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:

  • it may cause constipation -- to prevent this, drink plenty of water or juice, and eat more dietary fibre;
  • it may alter your sense of taste;
  • it may cause nausea and vomiting;
  • it may give stool a white colour.

Each person may react differently to a treatment. If you think this medication may be causing side effects (including those described here, or others), talk to your doctor or pharmacist. He or she can help you to determine whether or not the medication is the source of the problem.

Storage

As with most medications, this product should be stored at room temperature. Store it in a secure location where it will not be exposed to excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of young children. Make sure that any leftover portion is disposed of safely.
