Medication information

Durezol 0.05% eye drops

This medication contains a topical anti-inflammatory drug from the cortisone family (corticosteroid). Typically, it is used for inflammation of the eyes or for the treatment of uveitis (inflammation of the iris of the eye). It produces its action on its first day of use.

Instructions

This medication is for the eye. To use:

  • wash your hands as well as the skin surrounding the affected eye;
  • shake the container;
  • gently pull down the lower lid of the affected eye;
  • apply 1 drop of the medication;
  • close the eye for 2 to 3 minutes, while gently pressing on the inner corner of the eye.

To avoid contaminating the medication, do not let the tip of the applicator touch your fingers or any part of your eye. Close the container tightly after each use.

Continue applying the product to complete the prescribed course of treatment, even after improvement is seen or felt.

This medication is typically used 4 times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember -- unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose. Do not double the next dose to catch up. If you wear contact lenses, you should remove them before using this medication. Wait 15 minutes after administration before reinserting your lenses.

Each person may react differently to a treatment. If you think this medication may be causing side effects (including those described here, or others), talk to your doctor or pharmacist. He or she can help you to determine whether or not the medication is the source of the problem.
