Increlex 10mg/mL injectable

This medication is typically used to stimulate growth. It requires a few months to take effect.

Instructions

This product must be injected under the skin (subcutaneously):

  • clean the top of the vial with an alcohol swab;
  • with a syringe, inject in the vial an amount of air equal to the dose to be withdrawn;
  • withdraw the required dose with a syringe;
  • clean the skin at the injection site using an alcohol swab;
  • pinch the skin and inject the medication into the fold (wait several days before injecting the same site again).


Dispose of used syringes and needles safely. Your pharmacist can tell you the best way to do this.

This medication is typically used twice a day. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.

If you forget a dose, simply skip it and then take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time. Do not double the next dose to catch up. This medication must be taken at the start of a meal with the first bite of food.

If you skip a meal, skip your mealtime dose of this medication as well.

Side effects

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:

  • it may cause headaches;
  • it may cause redness and swelling at the injection site;
  • it may cause vomiting;
  • it may cause low blood sugar levels, which could make you feel dizzy, shaky or weak.

Each person may react differently to a treatment. If you think this medication may be causing side effects (including those described here, or others), talk to your health care professional. He or she can help you to determine whether or not the medication is the source of the problem.

Storage

Keep this product in the refrigerator and do not allow it to freeze. Once opened, the product must be used within 30 days. Any unused portion should be discarded. This product must be kept in its original packaging. Do not transfer it to another container.

Additional Information

Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.

A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
