Angéline Lamy and the necklace

Angéline's story

Nine-year-old Angéline Lamy has acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and severe asthma. Fortunately, her condition is now stable, but that wasn’t always the case. At one year of age, Angeline stopped responding to stimuli and was having seizures. Thanks to the emergency room trauma team, she stopped convulsing after being administered medication, but her condition deteriorated. She was then transferred to intensive pediatric care, where her lungs were found to be seriously ill, but no treatment seemed to work to keep her organs functioning. When the diagnosis was made, the situation was critical and the chances of survival without permanent damage were slim. A few days later, good news finally arrived: a high frequency ventilator as well as drains on each lung helped the little child get better. Eventually her condition improved to the point where she could breathe on her own!

Beautiful Angeline and her family have now resumed a normal life; she only has damage to her foot, which is operable. "Thanks to your donations, children like Angéline can benefit from state-of-the-art equipment to heal as best and as quickly as possible. We thank you for having been there for her and for continuing to be for all the sick children of Québec!"

- Andrée-Anne Beaulac and Martin Lamy, Angéline’s parents
