If you’re sexually active, you’re at risk of a Sexually Transmitted Infection, or STI. Reading up on it all is a good start, but you still need to protect yourself. Not having sex is of course a can’t miss way to prevent STIs, but since that may not be realistic, you absolutely need protection when you have sex.
