Dry eye
Dry eye is a very common health problem. Nearly all of us have experienced itchy or tired eyes caused by excessive dryness.
However, this problem can become very disruptive and significantly reduce the quality of life for some people. The surface of the eye is continually bathed in tears, which are a blend of watery and oily liquids. In response to emotions or dryness, the tear glands produce sufficient tears to moisturize the eyes. However, sometimes the tears are not secreted in sufficient quantity or they evaporate too quickly. Dry eye can have many causes, including environmental conditions like dry air, wind or smoke, underlying health problems such diabetes, hormonal changes, and a wide variety of medications. Dry eye is usually harmless and temporary. If the condition persists, have your eyes checked to find the cause of the dryness so you can get proper treatment.
