At Familiprix, we believe the pharmacy of today—and tomorrow—should be more in tune with the everyday realities of patients, while also paying close attention to the world around us.
Since 2018, our eco-responsible shift has been guided by a structured plan built around five sustainable development priorities.
In real terms, that means taking action to create a more human, accessible, and environmentally responsible way of doing things, where caring for people and caring for the planet go hand in hand.

We are gradually electrifying our delivery network, with more than 100 electric vehicles already on the road. At head office, charging stations, a carpooling program, and initiatives like Défi du Mois du vélo and Vélovolt in 2025 are helping encourage more sustainable ways to get around.

n our pharmacies, programs like GoZero, Appel à recycler, and Mira help recover and repurpose a wide range of materials. At our head office and in our distribution centre, sorting stations and other initiatives help us reduce waste, recycle more, and manage residual materials more effectively.

In 2019, we completely phased out plastic bags in our pharmacies, replacing them with reusable, longer-lasting alternatives. We also stopped selling single-use plastic water bottles, helping keep more than 10 million bottles off the market every year.

Every year, we measure our carbon footprint so we can track and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. This helps us take concrete, evolving steps to lower our environmental impact over time.

At our head office, we are taking concrete steps to improve our buildings’ energy efficiency, enhance employees’ quality of life, and support urban greening. These actions include planting trees with Nature Québec to help reduce heat islands, installing automated LED lighting, and adding a reflective roof to better regulate temperature.

ur eco-friendly mindset also carries through to our corporate events, with actions such as waste reduction, more sustainable food choices, participant awareness efforts, and carbon offset initiatives during our annual convention.

For more than 30 years, we have supported the cause of sick children through Enfant Soleil, thanks to the commitment of our pharmacists, their teams, and our head office staff. We also support Le Reflet through donations of hygiene and cosmetic products, as well as Camp Canak, a respite and care centre located in New Brunswick.

Across our network, pharmacies support their communities through a wide range of local initiatives. At Familiprix’s head office, our involvement policy encourages departments to give back to different organizations. Every year, dozens of activities take place, from preparing lunches for community fridges to wrapping gifts for homeless women and putting together Christmas baskets for Moisson Québec.

In 2022, a health and wellness committee was created at Familiprix’s headquarters to promote healthy lifestyle habits. Fresh fruit and feminine hygiene products are available free of charge on site. Employees also have access to fitness classes, telemedicine services, and a range of benefits that support their well-being and personal growth.

Since the beginning of our sustainability shift in 2018, the Sustainable Development Committee, made up of employees from every department, has overseen the rollout of our projects. Employee collaboration and leadership involvement are also essential to reaching our goals.

All employees and members of our network are encouraged to participate in sustainable development awareness activities and consult practical guides on sustainable best practices, helping them adopt eco-responsible habits in their day-to-day work.

More than 70 pharmacies in our network have completed, or are currently following, Maillon Vert’s eco+responsible pathway. Guides, tools, and practical measures are being implemented in pharmacies to turn intention into action. Each year, an “eco” award is presented at the Familiprix Convention to recognize the pharmacy showing the strongest commitment.
